If last year's Christmas programs in Rovinj were rather small and modest, more like stage stops on the Istria-wide Advent tour, this year the city surprises us with an extensive Advent event calendar. Its lighting concept this year, which appropriately integrates the Batana tradition, creates a beautiful pre-Christmas atmosphere in Rovinj in the evening. Also, the culinary offer has been expanded with stalls and restaurants on the Lungomare, so we can look forward to treats beyond mulled wine and fritule.
Rovinj Christmas Market 2022 starts on November 26 and ends on January 8, 2023.

Almost every town in Istria has its own small but charming Christmas markets, such as Novigrad, Buje and Sveti Lovreč, which invites you to take an Advent tour. The special feature this year is that the town of Rovinj has engaged a well-known lighting designer Saša Šekoranja for the implementation of the Christmas lights. Saša Šekoranja is, among other things, co-designer of the Zagreb Christmas Market, which is amoung the most beautiful ones in Europe. He was particularly successful in combining festive lighting with tradition, which is why many decorative elements include batana boats and goldfish details.
As mentioned at the beginning, this year the treats go beyond mulled wine and fritule: the stalls in the main square Maršal Tito provide a wide range of food and drinks, accompanied by a concert program on the main stage. In addition, some restaurants have joined in the fun with special Christmas menus, also the stalls at Lungomare will offer delicious winter cocktails and truffle treats.
